Adding Tags to Google Drive Files & Links

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

Let's say you're head of design at your company and you want to set up an easy to use system for your Sales team to access and find the sales assets (stored on Google Drive, Canva, etc.) they need to share with prospects.

Your prospects come from different industries and have various use cases per industry.

You can easily create the perfect digital asset management system for your Sales team with Neatly. First, create a Sales category. Then, create a section for each industry and finally, upload your Google Drive files or external links to Neatly and tag them based on their use case.

Your Sales team can then quickly find the assets they need by filtering the Sales category by tag/use case and scrolling to the section for their industry.

What are tags?

Tags are an additional way to categorize any file or link saved in Neatly.

Tags are free text so you can label them any way you want. You can also add descriptions to tags that you can see when you hover over them.

How to tag Google Drive files & links

Creating tags

You can tag any file added to Neatly or link (from anywhere on the web, like Canva or Figma).

  • Admins can create tags
  • Admins and editors can tag files and links
  • Admins, editors and viewers can filter files by tags

There are two ways to create tags - through the account settings or inside the category.

In the account settings: Go to your settings (Settings > My Company) and click on the "Add New" button in the upper right part of the screen. From there you can add your tag label, description, and color. You can add up to 20 tags.

The list of tags you create here will be available for selection on individual files.

Adding tags in the category: Another option is to add new tags to files. Go to any file, click on the "Add new tag" button and the "Define new tag" button to create a new tag.

Assigning tags to files

You can assign tags to your files and links once your tags are created. Just click on the "Add new tag" button (or on existing tags) below the file. From there, you can choose as many tags as you want from the list.

Filtering Google Drive files and other links with tags

Filtering files and links by tags is simple. Just click on the magnifying glass icon in the upper right corner of the screen when inside a category.

This will open up your list of tags. Choosing one tag will filter your category to all files and links which contain that tag. Choosing multiple tags will filter your category to all files and links that have all of those tags.

This category is filtered to only show files & links tagged "ongoing"
